12 Zebra Spoons

Today I went to the Asian Market and bought a box of 12 Zebra spoons for 5 bucks.

These are incredible soup spoons. They're really quite solid considering they're pressed stainless steel. They're made by Zebra, world leader in stainless pots and pans, so a great brand. The price is amazing considering they were shipped from the far side of the planet.

What is a Japanese soup spoon called?

Why are Chinese soup spoons shaped that way?

There is a rounded edge around the spoon before it is flat. You put just the rounded portion of the spoon into your mouth and drink from it. The reason for the larger spoon probably stems from the fact that many Asian soups have noodles and large chunks of vegetables and meat.
