Prednisone Side Effect Poem

Everything is love.
Days of magical thinking,
stories in my head.
I write them down.
Three hours of sleep a night
feels like an ocean.

I am Alice in Wonderland,
(the girl with kaleidoscope eyes)
Drink me! Eat me!
I am dancing and
thinking I am beautiful!
That rarely happens.

My mother told me I was thick-boned,
with big fat-man cigar-smoking grandpa nose.
I cried and cried. I was five years old
and believed it all,
that I was the ugly duckling.
Now I am the swan,
Love and illumination the side effect.
