Luke Jerram

Luke Jerram has been placing strangely painted pianos in public places, asking random people to sit down and play. He came up with the idea while sitting in his local laundromat in England where he would see the same people each week. He thought it would be fun to add a piano to the boring task of doing the laundry, and the idea took off.

"I'm hoping people will use the pianos as an opportunity to express themselves and just turn up and enjoy their time," Jerram said.

Week after week at his local Laundromat in Bristol, England, Luke Jerram noticed the same people, washing, drying and folding, but never talking to each other.

His artistic mind soon hit upon a solution: Put a piano in the Laundromat.
