Theater is Everywhere

PROVIDENCE — The police are investigating a felony assault in which a man shouted at his victim, “You’re dating my girl, and I want her back.”

The incident occurred at about 2 a.m. Friday behind Fabian’s Liquors, 500 Cranston St., in the West End, when Jose Rivera, 46, told the police that he was confronted by a man wielding a wooden baseball bat. He said that the man, who he knows only by his first name, struck him several times with the bat.

Rivera told the police that he does not know what the man was talking about. Rivera, whose home address was not immediately available, was treated at Rhode Island Hospital. The police Saturday were unable to describe his injuries.
