The Anxiety: A Prevelance of Bad Information

I was talking to a few people I know from walking downtown and I am always astonished at the prevalence of bad information on every topic, politics, the body, food, exercise, health, you name it. I am lucky to have a skeptical mind and a love for reference librarians and good information. I was always in search of good information. In my family it was a near impossibility to get simple facts answered. Were you married when I was born? Was Daddy-Tom living with you? Was he my biological father, was I a mistake? What is this big scar on my thumb since age 2?

By the time I was age 11, I was saving up for the boys and girls book about divorce. If Dr. Phil was around then I would have contacted him and bought his books. In my family questions about marriage, ethnicity, money, and you name it were out of the question. So I went to the encyclopedias to read about sex and I sent away for the Boys and Girls Book about Divorce. I told my beloved butcher Jamie Sullivan this story recently and he said that's very sad. Yes it is! But it also demonstrates my determination to get good information. I married the scientist, aka man who knows everything and he takes away many worries.

We also had no spiritual training, just psychotherapy.

The rapidity with which we can now access worldwide data bases means that we can as quickly retrieve bad information as we retrieve truthful and accurate information.
