I fell in love with Jersey cows when I lived on a farm in Plymouth Vermont and it was my daily job to milk the cow my hand. I'd carry the fresh milk up to the farm kitchen and the cook simmered it on the big iron stove. Ever since then (1976), I have wanted to raise and care for my own Jersey cow. The trouble is I am a devoted urbanite in the most urban corner of my city. A few years ago a friend bought a farm 3 miles away in Blackstone Massachusetts and I begged him to let me keep my own Jersey cow on his land but he was not interested. He was raising purebred horses for show and sale.
