Dear Folks,
Nothing
much on Spruce St. today. My next door neighbor had one of her trees
taken down. It towered over my garage, but was no threat to me. Kitties
will miss fantasizing they can catch the birds on it when they climb
onto the garage roof. Roots from the tree grew into the neighbor's
house and messed up her plumbing. Now she needs new flooring in her
bathroom because it flooded. Many people plant trees too close to their
houses, but also the birds drop seeds
and things get planted that way.
There
was a beautiful fig tree right next to the side of my house that kept
growing tall to get sun but couldn't get wide. I had it cut low, and
now it's a bush. I had a few other tree problems. I am thinking of
having a pear tree planted in the yard, so long as it can avoid the
electrical wires. They aren't very aesthetic about electric wire
placement 'round these parts.
It's been smokey here, so the sun has been barely visible today.
I had a teeth cleaning this morning.
I'm
making a potato casserole right now in the oven and I'll have a salad
and some cheese. I went to my favorite produce pay-by-the-honor-system
stand in Chico today after the teeth cleaning, so I'm stocked with
tomatoes and cucumbers. I got a couple red onions and some orange squash
too. I like to bake the squash and then slice it. It's almost like
sweet potatoes.
That's the scoop up here in beautiful Gridley by the sea (not).
What's new with YOUSE?
Love,
Phoebe
