Last night Romeo and I ran into blue-eyed Brian mowing his yard. The dogwood and kwanzan cherry were both in bloom displaying two shades of pink. He shut off the motor and ducked out from under the trees. We had a chat about silence. I have spoken with him many times, little visits over the decade. He is extremely thoughtful and also an introvert. His gal is adorable too with perpetually rosy cheeks. I'm looking to plant a bush or tree for privacy in my backyard except it's extremely shady back there, he said.
I can understand that, I said. I prefer to hide when I'm in my yard.
After dinner the bathrobe lady was out on the sidewalk having a shouting match with an invisible recipient. My husband and I went to the window to watch. She had a cigarette in one hand and was gesturing with the the other. It turns out she was on the phone. I finally went into the bedroom and switched on the box fan to blot out her yelling so I could read my book.
