The granola smelled so good while it was baking. I used two kitchen timers to make sure I turned it off after 45 minutes. I heard the kitchen timers and came down and turned them both off. Then I went back upstairs.
The scent was wafting through the house and out the
windows. I thought it was wild that the house gave off the baking granola
scent for so long. Must be because it's a beautiful dry day, the scent travels, I told myself and kept working.
Finally it occurred to me that I'd better go back down and check and make sure I had turned the oven off.
Nope. It was on.
I had only turned off the two kitchen timers.
Luckily I bake this granola on low (250 degrees Fahrenheit), but wow. So now we
have a batch of 4 hour granola. It tastes good but the subtlety of the homemade
vanilla was lost in the extensive toasting of the oats. But it isn't burned and it's still delicious.
