The game of fluffing and puffing your resume to make it appear as though you are something other than the truth seems to be a trait a certain class of people enjoy. 

I also think it's a big city disease. 

If you're selling yourself as a writer, write your resume well.

Ultimately it is sad and a betrayal to your own soul. 

If you know who you are and the truth about where you came from and how you were treated none of this distorting of reality would be necessary.
