When people get under our skin

When people get under our skin it might be because we carry a false belief about ourselves. So we can take it as an opportunity to examine it. The anorexic ladies at the pool infuriate me. 1. their behavior: catty competitive. 2. classist. one told me all heavy people should die of Covid  3. they are both violent  towards themselves. 4. They are living in a fantasy, a symbol of what they think women are supposed to be for men. 5. Sad to say they have body dysmorphia & they take it out on everyone especially themselves.

Eating disorders are never about weight, food, numbers, etc., but they are a way of coping with something else that the person finds extremely difficult to express, feel, or control. In this way, the role of the eating disorder is much like alcohol for an alcoholic. Both serve the same purpose—to avoid, numb, and cope. https://www.todaysgeriatricmedicine.com/news/exclusive_0409_03.shtml

She came to believe she could literally feel her flesh expanding with each bite of food, and she began to make herself throw up after eating.
