A Mystery

The neighbors have left their front door wide open for 3 weeks in spite of the nine degree weather. The washing machine is on its side on the front porch blocking the entrance, a bamboo bench and propane tank are stashed in the shrubs. We can't understand it. It's as if they were called away mid-move except they are now living here, going in and out the back door as if they've forgotten.
