We were having our midday coffee when dingdong ding dong dingdong dingdong sounded at the back door. It was the young girl and her older sister from 628. Hi, can we fill our pool? she asked my husband, pointing to the spigot and hose on the side of our house.
My husband agreed and went out and unraveled the hose to reach their blow up pool. They had placed it under the shade of our big maple tree, in the communal parking lot. It was ten feet long and six feet wide.
The kids played in it for a few hours jumping around tossing water at each other, getting in and out with their muddy feet.
My husband went out and made sure everyone was okay and rolled the hose back up.
Soon the water was a big mud puddle.
Ding dong dingdong. Do you have that stuff that cleans the pool? The older sister asked.
Oh, you mean chlorine? That's not used for a pool this tiny, my husband said.
They deflated the pool releasing the water.
Dingdongdingdongdingdong. Can we have the hose to clean the pool? It's dirty. My husband went out and they had moved the pool to the back of 606. He unspooled the hose and they hosed off the dirt and mud. Then they used a battery-operated pump to inflate it.
and filled it again.
