Downtown Walk

On our downtown walk this morning my dog chomped on a plastic bag filled with run over food. I tugged and pulled and yanked with all of my strength to prevent him from swallowing this twisted gray foot-long plastic bag. I was having what I call a maternal panic hyperventilating while imagining the potential disaster if I didn't win this battle. People were driving by watching this tug of war in the middle of the street. Meanwhile I was getting the disgusting food gunk all over him and my gloves and my hat and scarf. At one point I lifted him up, the bag clamped in between his teeth. I did finally win the war and disposed of the bag. I panted with exhaustion the whole way home. Once inside I stripped off his coat, leash, my hat, scarf, vest, sweatshirt and gloves and dumped them into the washer. I wiped him down with a wet wash cloth.  With all of my extra adrenaline I clipped his nails and brushed his teeth. We're okay now.
