Self-sabotage is when we undermine what we want and what we believe in. Self-sabotage happens “when your drive to reduce threats is higher than your drive to attain rewards,” says neuropsychologist Judy Ho. The act of self-sabotage is rooted in many things, including low self-worth, shaky self-control, and the tendency to hang on to familiar feelings of instability and turmoil.
