At
50, Bernice Ende left Montana on horseback to visit her sister in New
Mexico. That simple trip turned into a 15-year journey across over
30,000 miles through the United States, Canada, and even parts of
France. With just her horses and her dog, she crossed deserts,
snow-covered mountains, and remote highways. She camped under the stars,
lived off the land, and trusted the kindness of strangers.
Once a
ballet teacher, Bernice rode to honor women’s history and to remind
others, especially women, that it is never too late to take control of
your own life. She shared her story in small towns and inspired many to
stop waiting for the right moment. Bernice passed away in 2021, but her
courage lives on in every woman who chooses freedom over fear.
