Rainy Saturday

I had a deep sleep! I fell asleep early watching TV, a good sedative.

I am reading another hard to put down bi-polar memoir about Suzy Favor Hamilton, the Olympic runner. This book I read backwards: the middle and end first and now I am reading the first half. It's called Fast Girl. The more bipolar memoirs I read, the more confident I get about describing my cyclothymia, my version of the illness.

I saw a gorgeous puppy bloodhound service dog on my walk yesterday. His ears were as big as Texas. Texas would be a great name for a dog, speaking of Texas.

Today is poet memoirist Mary Karr's birthday.

I made a healthy version of scalloped potatoes. It's all in the thin potato slicing! I'm on a mission to learn to make all of my favorite foods. Why not? Life is short.

I love watching chef Jacques Pepin on TV. I say to Bill He's my boyfriend! But I can't eat butter and I am allergic to wine. He would be so sad. I adore Ming Tsai, Michael Smith and Julia Child. They all have it, that marvelous infectious personality and love of cooking and teaching.

Now I am listening to the Saturday schmaltzy WICN jazz show on the radio.
