41 Years Ago Today

I was running away from home staying on Union Street Brooklyn in my step-brother's loft. It was cold at night and I slept with my wool sailor pants, turtle neck sweater and yellow hiking boots on. I remember crying a lot and being practically non-verbal. On good days I was dancing to Bob Dylan's Blonde on Blonde when nobody was home. Within a few weeks I found my own apartment on Mott Street in Chinatown NYC between Grand and Broome. I found a job as a cashier for the night shift at Gillies 1840 health food grocery market. I ran home every night at 11:PM. Luckily nothing bad happened. My grandfather had a teensy storefront United Blower Fans and Motors off Canal Street and I saw him every day.
