Shame

I was lightly baking almonds at 8AM yesterday and I completely forgot. They didn't burn but they were darker than we like. I did the same thing baking granola last week. It reminded me of when I was a child and I made supper for my father and I baked a pot of wild rice. He scolded me "do you know how much that costs?" And all I felt was shame. There was no thank you for the gift.
