Mirror

Last night Romeo wouldn't let go of the tennis ball. It was late and the skunks were out. I let him come into the office with the ball. As I was working the ball rolled behind the tall heavy, plywood backed mirror leaning against wall. I heard a loud crash. Glass everywhere. I tied up Romeo on the opposite side of the room. I yelled for Bill to come help, and we got to work. We put on gloves and carted the heavy shattered mirror outside and leaned it against the house in the big fenced yard away from where Romeo can reach. We swept up the shards and vacuumed the crumbs. Then I heard a noise and opened the vacuum. The vacuum bag was upside down and all the dirt was missing the bag going naked into the machine. Bill fixed it. "This could have been so much worse. I am glad I was here to catch Romeo so he didn't step in the glass. I'm too old for mirrors anyway," I said as we fell asleep.
