Ta and Lisa

On my way home from my walk with Romeo I saw Ta and Lisa in their garden.

Long time no see, Ta said.

How are you?

I am 30% better. I still have numbness and tingling in my hands and legs from my fall on the bicycle. My nerve is pinched. I've had three back surgeries. If I am not better soon, I'm going back to Cambodia.

To live?

No. To visit. All my family is here. I saw this man on youtube, the man couldn't walk and he was hit with a hammer and then he could walk. Magic.

That sounds violent. I don't like it. What do you think, I said looking at Lisa. She agreed. The youtube video might not be real, I said.

That's what my children tell me. So I'm going to go and see with my own eyes.

They might be actors. I am worried for you.

Then Ta and Lisa both reached up into their tree and grabbed handfuls of crab apples and handed them to me. Lots of vitamin C Ta said, biting into one.

I remember you told me, they're good with salt and beer, I said, filling my jacket pockets.

Anytime you want just come in and grab them.

Thank you, great to see you, I said.
