Knicker Nickers or a Thief in our Midst

I refuse to leave the house with clothes on the line because years ago I was hesitating, They could get stolen, I said to my husband and he laughed at me. Sure enough when we returned home one of his T-shirts had been stolen. 

Recently I was home baking bread one afternoon when I caught a neighbor climbing out of his apartment and up the fire escape in a bright red hoodie, and then trying his neighbor's window. His neighbor is my friend and I knew he was at work. I phoned the cops and they showed up immediately and tried to speak to the man but he was not answering the door. They spoke to the two other neighbors in the building. These other neighbors were so frightened by the incident that one of them installed a talking spy camera motion detector that is aimed at the parking lot 24/7. It lights up and speaks when anything moves. So naturally this has cut down on the usual parking lot business, the selling and buying and taking of drugs.
