I wish people would throw away their television sets and go to the library and get a books to read. I say this because TV distorts people's brains.
For example today at the YMCA pool one swimmer was angry because he had a neighbor blaring music all weekend destroying his time in the yard and his sleep.
I suggested next time he call the police.
The swimmer said he phoned the landlord of the noisy property and expected the tenant to retaliate. Then he said when that happens he would hire his friends to commit murder.
Is that really a solution you can live with? I said. I'd have to bake you a cake with a file in it. Why not take advantage of the laws and noise ordinances we already have in place?
Most people I speak with on my dog walks are so afraid of the police that they would take the law into their own hands and risk everything rather than phone the cops. THIS IS NUTS!
We have an excellent national award-winning police department and a well-attended Citizens Academy. How can we change people's minds? I think it starts with turning off the TV.
