Lived in Rome, Italy https://www.quora.com/profile/Fabio-DAleoWe eat pasta or rice only once a day normally, not huge portions and with more vegetables and less fatty sauces than you are used abroad. Most people, when having pasta or risotto for lunch, then has meat or fish in the evening, or the other way round.
Pizza is something we eat every now and then (mostly in a night out with friends or family). Again, Italian pizza is not smothered in fatty cheese and often toppings are just veggies. Panini are an alternative lunch on the go, when there is no time for a sitting lunch: one Milanese “michetta al crudo” with Parma ham has:
- 50g carbs
- 20g fat
- 35g protein
That is 513 Kcal, one third less fats and one third more proteins than a Big Mac: if coupled with a steak or a chicken breast and some veggies for dinner, it's perfectly compatible with a weight loss diet.
