Last night we went to PriceRite to buy broccoli and the display had none. I found the produce man who was replenishing potatoes. He had a crate of broccoli on the dolly. I asked him about it and he was glad to unpack it. It was so fresh, it was still packed in snow. I thanked him and picked out six heads.
We boiled a pound of linguini and pan-roasted the chopped broccoli florets with freshly chopped and salted garlic, a few dried red chili peppers, some olive oil and some of the pasta water to deglaze the pan. With a dash of soy sauce and chopped sun-dried tomatoes in Italian herbs and oil, it was delicious. A blend of Italian and Chinese cuisines.
Lately noodles are a comfort.
