Happy New year. What are you cooking lately? I've been making Italian turkey meatballs in homemade tomato sauce and sourdough multigrain breads. At Christmas I made anise and orange pizzelles!
Ms.LC:
Wow---that all sounds so good! I've gone back to handmaking my pasta...I don't have the time, mind you, but I just love the taste.... Not the most exciting, but that's really where I am these days. Made a beautiful potato gnocchi with garlic oil and fresh peas and mushrooms two nights ago. think I could eat that every single night for the next 2 months.
Wonderful. I buy semolina flour in 50 pound sack (blush). If you were walking distance I'd drop some off at your office! Have you ever used spinach or tomato flour? King Arthur Flour sells it. My brother Peter is making homemade pasta for his new girlfriend using blended flour. She has celiac. He uses attachment on kitchen aid. I think we all need to TAKE the time to bake and cook and share meals at my table for a happier world. I also love to teach for free--how to make sourdough bread, how to use a pressure cooker...
Happy Weekend Laura! :-)
Ms.LC:
Haven't used spinach or tomato flour. Intriguing, though. I love the King Arthur company---that's all my late Nonna used...and I'm loyal to the brand, too. What an act of love by your brother...and you are just wonderful Emily---sharing home cooking in any way is a major act of love. The Universe needs more like you!!!
It was the food love I learned from my step Father Tony and my Jewish Grandparents Nat and Sophie of Brighton Beach Brooklyn. Food is LOVE! I have a fantasy of putting up a gigantic table on my street -It is about 2 miles long and goes from Blackstone MA to Woonsocket Rhode Island. To break bread. (yes I am a six year old at heart) My Woonsocket mayor would love this too.
oops! My email went out before i could correct punctuation! :-)
Occasionally I give the police a big basket filled with fresh homemade multigrain sourdough loaves or wine and pepper biscotti. THEY are amazing and for 25 years of living in my home, they have help our challenged neighborhood. Food is a THANK YOU< I LOVE YOU! Yes to potato gnocci and fresh peas and mushrooms. I hope we break bread someday! PS guilty pleasure Lemoncello Almonds Oh my god! With black coffee! I must learn how to make them. https://sconza.com/candies/lemoncello-almonds/ Ms.LC Wonderful gift to the Police Yay! Ms.LC Sounds wonderful. I can no longer have anything with nuts in my house---my son is deathly allergic to peanuts and all treenuts. When he's away at college my husband and I will eat at a Thai restaurant or someplace that uses nuts, otherwise, just can't in my house any more. They do sound amazing, though. Let me know how it goes!! Oh, wow. I'm sorry. My boiler-man Roger said his girlfriend has the same allergy. When I gave him pizzelle he said I just have to ask..."are there any nuts?"
