Cedar Fever or Colitis "Cedar fever" refers to an allergic reaction to cedar pollen, causing symptoms like a runny nose, itchy eyes, sneezing, and congestion, while "colitis" is a medical condition involving inflammation of the colon, often presenting with symptoms like bloody diarrhea, abdominal pain, and frequent bowel movements, making colitis a significantly more serious condition compared to cedar fever; essentially, cedar fever is an allergy while colitis is a digestive disease.  

Key differences:  Cause: Cedar fever is triggered by pollen from cedar trees, while colitis can be caused by various factors like infections, autoimmune disorders, or inflammatory bowel disease.   

Symptoms: Cedar fever mainly affects the nose and eyes with symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, and congestion. (But can affect digestion)

Colitis primarily causes digestive issues like bloody diarrhea, abdominal pain, urgency to defecate, and sometimes fever.  

Treatment: Cedar fever is typically managed with antihistamines, nasal sprays, and avoiding exposure to cedar pollen. Colitis treatment may involve medication to reduce inflammation, dietary changes, and in severe cases, surgery.
