John B. Severance Writer + Sylvia Frezzolini Book Designer

During his long career in high schools, John B. Severance (also known as Jake Severance) taught English, history, art and photography.

He is the author of several biographies for young readers, including Gandhi: Great Soul; Winston Churchill: Soldier, Statesman, Artist; Thomas Jefferson: Architect of Democracy; and Einstein: Visionary Scientist (all published by Clarion Books). Skyscrapers: How America Grew Up, was published by Holiday House. His first novel, Braving the Fire, A Civil-War Novel, was published in 2002.

He lives with his wife Sylvia Frezzolini Severance [book designer extroidinare] in Savannah, GA.
