Milking a Jersey Cow

One of the greatest joys in life is milking a cow. One summer in 1976 I got to live on Tamarack farm in Plymouth Vermont and my job was to milk the cow every morning and bring the steel pail of milk to the camp cook. I also fed the chickens grain and they always walked on my bare feet. It tickled! I also fed the baby goats who leaped over the picnic tables to reach me. I love city living but if I ever lived in a rural place it would be for the sole purpose of owning a jersey cow.

I must go visit The Bennet's Farm of Jersey milk cows on Coatney Hill road in CT. They are a lovely family of three generations of dairy farmers. Maybe they will let me milk a cow.
