The neighborhood is transforming into a multicultural dream come true. We have new Indian neighbors. When I saw them carrying their pressure cooker we started talking about how wonderful it is to cook with them.
Also, Elbow Street took away the ugly chain link fence on what was historically the river's wall. This new space changes the perception of Elbow Street. All of our lives have OPENED UP. City planners know these things about space. The neighbor opposite the wall says "Let's have a neighborhood organization and a block party!"
The front of our house and side is re-painted blue and white next year, God willing, we do the back. We fixed two chimneys and the slate roof. We are soooo happy that the neighborhood is lifting up with us. (Thanks to the beloved folks in City Hall and WPD)
I still think about a gratitude breakfast for the City hall and Police Dept and Library.
Maybe I should have it in my backyard. One group at a time?
