Yesterday at sunset we ran out to buy groceries. Quick, let's go before it gets dark and colder. I asked my husband if we could swing by the pet store. You never know when a storm will come and we're so tired during the week. Let's go now and get it over with.
We both hate driving to the invented village shopping mall. We held our noses and took the trip to the other side of the city.
As we pulled into PetSmart a monster white truck with double rear tires and a loud muffler drove through 2 parking spaces to park. He must have a pet kitten, I said. Goldfish my husband said.
We walked in to get a our 2 big bags 3 months supply of dog and cat food. I turned around and there in the toy aisle were two gigantic huskies with white eyes and fluffy fur. Oh hello, I said. You are sweet. It was the big truck guy. I bet they don't mind the cold I said. Naw they sleep outside in this. Really, in 16 degree weather? Yeah they can handle 30 below. Wow, I said. Are they siblings? Yes, brother and sister.
At the checkout line I noticed a small square-shaped shaved spot on one of the huskies left and right front legs. She just got back from the vets she was attacked by a porcupine. Oh my. Yeah up in New Hampshire. Live free or Die, I thought. But he obviously loved and doted on his dogs. I didn't tell him that my dog sleeps curled up next to me and my husband in our bed. No porcupines allowed.
