People always ask me "why are you smiling all the time?"
I'll say, "Ha, you didn't see me ten minutes ago!"
But the truth is I am blown away by after just 30 yards of walking and I am smiling again....
I have my dogs to thank for this. I can't turn them down.
Rain or shine warm or cold we'll walk and I am grateful. They have taught me that a rainy day walk can be a beautiful thing. I used to take Lily on the 3 mile loop on rainy days all the time. She needed it and I came to love it and require it too. It got me out of my head and I made a few friends on the route.
Here's the thing, one statement, one dark glance and I can be in a pit
of flaming curses
but it works the other way too.
We have to
remind ourselves one little thing can bring us in another direction.
The smell of toast and coffee, the scent of soap, clean sheets, the angle of the sun on the windowsill. Smooth shaved
legs. The classical music on the radio.
Come back to the sensory world,
out of our swirling mucky heads
into the now!
