Friday

This time of year I sleep early and wake earlier. The humidity came down and I hosed off the fans. I made brown rice to go with the spicy vegetable chili. We ate fresh local corn for dessert.

I am baking molasses granola before the heat arrives.

My Taiwanese neighbor Mr C's peach tree is overflowing. He must be on vacation. It's all I can do to not scoop up the fallen ones. Urban peach thief?

This cool dry air is when I dream of sewing curtains and dresses. The first half of the summer was so hot nothing was possible except drinking water, indoor YMCA swimming and hiding indoors reading and writing and eating salad. Everybody suffered.

The cute 2 family with yellow doors opposite us is for sale. I hope the folks I saw looking will buy it. The price of homes is insane. No more slutty slum landlords when you pay 350k for a shack.

Meanwhile the house next to us continues to be a criminal enterprise with the worst landlord possible. There's a rat infestation due to the yard of poop, 5 dogs and 6 families crammed in the building. The scheming previous landlord found another schemer who promised to live  here to get a tax break but she lives in North Dighton. The city had to take her to court for the millionth time to attend to the trash, broken stairs, rats, broken chimney and that's just the start. The balcony is falling and the windows are shattered. But things have improved from what they were.

Neighbors complain to me knowing I will speak up.

Yesterday I scooped up 5 dirty diapers in front of the building. I guess the new people with toddlers toss them off the porch!

The KARMA POLICE work 24/7. We have lived here 27 years and nobody lasts when they are this bad. The city catches up with them.
