I Thank Him

I am a dreamer. I have fantasies all the time with crazy ideas. I have never stopped. Sometimes the ideas are excellent. My husband calls me the idea machine. I would love to see my neighborhood continue to improve but I dislike gentrification. A better word would be renovation. Renovation implies community and pride in ownership. Gentrification to me implies franchises versus mom and pop stores. My neighbor from Taiwan has renovated his three levels of porches, seeded the yard, put up a wooden fence, and now renovated and rented store fronts to a church and an immigration lawyer. I've met all of his tenants and they are sweet and lovely. He lives there too. His hard work is lighting up the street. I thank him when I see him and I gather any stray trash that blows against his fence.
