Salt and Sand

We had run out of salt and sand so yesterday I drove to River Street to scoop my free two buckets. Last time I went was a few winters ago and there were shovels on site. So I didn't bring mine. When I got there I didn't see the salt and sand so I asked the attendant in the day glow vest. We had to move it down the street, outside the gate at the highway department building, he said. Too many people were showing up after hours.
Is there a shovel? I asked.
If there isn't come back and I will find you one.
I promise I will return it, I said.
I know where you live, he said, smiling. You used to bring your dog to the park.
