Thinking of my older sister Edie Schleinig who would have been 56 years old today. While I don't miss the drama that often accompanied her appearance in our lives, I truly miss her as my sibling. It will be 19 years on the 25th since she passed away. I still remember the last time I spent with her in her LA area hospital room just coloring pictures and watching Twin Peaks reruns...What she looked like then from the toll of her cancer will haunt me forever. I remember leaving her room for the last time knowing I would never see her again...It was July 4th, 1998. She lasted another month after they released her from the hospital and she got one last adventure to Vegas for her birthday that year before she passed. Her cervical cancer was caused by HPV...whatever side of the fence you are on for the vaccine that is now available and wasn't for all those who lost their lives and were part of how and why it was developed - no judgment. for or against is your own choice...just know that our reason for vaccinating our boys is personal, having seen its effects first hand. We don't regret our decision and we don't judge those who decided differently.
