The Water Temple: Hydropsychotherapy:


I am so fascinated by what the swim does for my moods. I have rejoined the YMCA now under new and improved and welcoming multicultural urban management. I've become a daily swimmer. And I can walk there! I could kiss the ground. What would I do without swimming?

The zen trick for me is to "do one lap" And I'll admit I count laps (not as torture) but as a way to focus on numbers rather than thoughts and to have purely optional and improvised goals. Swimming is super helpful for sinking into my seasonal cyclothymic mood cycle - the three month lows, what I call receive-mode. It also tames and focuses my three month highs, transmit-mode.
