I had the best night of
teaching swimming ... I had a 2 hour nap ahead of class. Then I went
back to my Jane Katz swim book and reread the first chapter on breathing a few
times.
In the early class the engineer and his wife are ready for the Olympics! Truly! They have put
the pieces together since October and are swimming beautiful crawl and breast stroke.
They are dedicated and have been practicing.
In the 2nd class my younger
most shy students were smiling/laughing. We worked on flip turns. They
looked like ducks fishing with butts in the air while trying to flip which caused us all to
laugh very hard.
We did lots of bobbing to reinforce the strong push of air bubbles out the nose. "NO WATER can GET IN if you blow out hard."
I believe the laughing came from hyperventilating. Sheer oxygen!
