I referenced two quotes in my homily last weekend. I am posting them here for reflection on them. The first is a quote from Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta: "I never look at the masses as my responsibility; I look at the individual. I can only love one person at a time - just one, one, one. So you begin. I began - I picked up one person. Maybe if I didn't pick up that one person, I wouldn't have picked up forty-two thousand....The same thing goes for you, the same thing in your family, the same thing in your church, your community. Just begin - one, one, one." The second is a prayer from Saint Pope John XXIII: "O Lord, do not let us turn into 'broken cisterns' which can hold no water. Do not let us be so blinded by the enjoyment of the good things of earth that our hearts become insensible to the cry of the poor, of the sick, of orphaned children and of those many brothers and sisters of ours who lack the necessary minimum to eat, to clothe their nakedness, and to gather their family together under one roof. Amen. Pope Francis will make his first visit to the United States from September 22 to 27th making stops in Washington, DC, New York City and Philadelphia. Before arriving in America, he will also visit Cuba. The pope gave a "virtual audience" on ABC news. He explained the spirit in which he is preparing for his Apostolic Visit. The World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia will be a key moment of his trip. The Pope spoke via satellite with immigrants and various individuals who have experienced social unease You
