Urban Gardens

My neighbors from Thailand and Lao are growing hydroponic lettuce in tiny Poland Spring water bottles. Hundreds of them hooked on the chin link fence.They go fishing at dawn and I see their waders set out to dry. They are also growing dill weed and hot peppers. They gave me a bag of them last summer and I dried them and still use them.

My neighbors and my language students from Haiti, Dominican Republic, Yemen, Peru, Puerto Rico Ghana Gambia all eat savory foods for breakfast. Me too!  I love savory sourdough cornmeal rye pancakes with my black coffee and then vegetarian German potato salad and buttermilk marinated grilled chicken sliced and doused with Sriracha. Now I culture my own buttermilk.
