Five rescued before boat sinks off Block Island
The Coast Guard rescued five fishermen Saturday afternoon after their motorboat became disabled in heavy seas southeast of Block Island.
"It was a disabled boat that actually turned into five people in the water," said Petty Officer First Class Joseph D'Ambrosio of Coast Guard Station Point Judith.
He said the disabled boat flipped over while the five fishermen, all adults from Massachusetts, were being rescued. He said the Coast Guard was unable to save the boat which sank.
