Romeo-dog is terrified of firecrackers. A walk at night means potentially frightening noises, so he now fears and resists nighttime walks as a way to protect himself.
Emotions can compel me to build a protective box but only when I allow my emotions to think for me.
When I cultivate my inner life I develop other parts of myself for navigation. I have a full color spectrum and palette at my fingertips.
Cultivation happens by consciously opening up and submitting, breaking through the walls and boxes I build around myself.
It takes daily and continuous practice to cultivate an appetite for learning and an open aware mind not be completely dominated, abused, manipulated, or hijacked by emotion.
I am usually greeted with a mood each day just like San Francisco fog. Mood is somewhat different from emotion, but it can hijack just as well. Mood presents the daily opportunity to practice breaking the ego bubble.
