We took a walk today in a new neighborhood. We were up at the CVS near Mendon Road to buy cream for my hornet sting and decided to chase down the shade trees to walk Romeo. A man was on a ladder nailing up the script number eleven sign over his front door. There was a driving school sign on a car parked in the driveway. He stopped what he was doing and came over and asked, is your dog friendly?
Yes.
May I say hi.
Of course. His name is Romeo.
My dog just died last week. He was also a black lab and he was 15 years old.
I'm so sorry, I said.
After we talked for a while he asked if we wanted his dog's food. "I don't want to throw it away."
Yes. Thank you, that's very kind. He loaded the 40 pound bag into our trunk.
I am blown away by the generosity and kindness of this man who we'd never met before.
