When I worked at Pete's Diner on Smith Street in Providence RI when I was 19, I remembered the regulars because they looked like their meals. "Mr. Cheerios" had gray-beige skin and a hole in his face, "Sunny Side Up" had perky breasts, "Wet Scrambled with Dry Toast on the Side" had chapped hands and chaotic hair. When I'd see them on the street I'd think, Oh, there's Mr. Cheerio! And Madam Dry Toast is waiting for the bus.
