Rats

I spotted two small dark oval turds under the maple tree and looked it up. Rat feces. I suspected rats ever since we spotted six three inch holes in the far corner of the large yard near the stone wall.

Occasionally we'll see a rat scurry into our garage under the gap below the door. In January we spotted a large and regal hawk standing in the yard on guard next to our wheelbarrow. He stayed for hours.

Yesterday after identifying the rat turds, I took rocks the size of golf balls and oranges and dropped them down the rat holes. Some holes were so deep that they ate up many stones.

I imagined elaborate condominiums with rats socializing and playing pool and napping. I did not want to poison the rats I just want them to relocate perhaps across the street to the 30 acre cemetery.

Now, all I can imagine is the rats getting pissed off and throwing rocks at our bedroom window as we try to sleep.
