BLACKSTONE - John F. Emidy, 58, of Blackstone, MA, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2014 in Maine. He was the beloved husband for 37 years of Cynthia A. (Eaton) Emidy. He was the loving father of Daniel P. Emidy of Blackstone, MA. Born in Woonsocket, RI on April 1, 1956, he was the son of the late James H. and Jacqueline M. (Gelinas) Emidy, Jr.
He was the brother of Theodore Emidy and James H. Emidy, III both of Palm Bay, FL, Thomas Emidy, Michelle Defond and her husband, Robert all of Bellingham, MA, Joseph Emidy, Denise O'Donnell and her husband, David all of Blackstone, MA, and Dennis Emidy of Winthrop, ME. John leaves his many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A lifelong resident of Blackstone, John was a graduate of Blackstone Millville Regional High School Class of 1974. He then received his Associates Degrees in Electronics and Architecture. John recently retired as Building Commissioner for the town of Medway, and also served the towns of Bellingham, Millville, Plainville and other surrounding area towns. Previously, John served on the Board of Selectmen for the Town of Blackstone.
John was a member of the Masons, Millerville Mens Club, Narragansett Salt Water Fishermen's Club and was a Registered Maine Guide.
John loved life and was an avid fisherman, hunter, snowmobiler, and boater. He loved his dogs Forest and Roscoe. John was loved by his family and friends, and will be sadly missed by all.
Funeral will be held on Friday, December 5th at 9:00AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at St. Paul's Church, 48 St. Paul St., Blackstone, MA. Interment will follow at St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham.
Visiting hours are on Thursday, December 4th from 5 to 8PM at the funeral home.
