I crave what I call highway time, open space, time to think. Some think it is time wasting but others get it.
My lap swimming and my long walks are the immediate physical ways I can have my space this but this week both things got truncated and I felt the effects.
The things that keep us centered are so important.
How I start my day is crucial. If I have to be somewhere early then I get up hours in advance so I have my time. Only then can I give to the world.
Introverts recharge in solitude; reading writing baking cooking walking, and extroverts process as a group. God help the introverts born into a family of extroverts!
I used to swear I was adopted. I couldn't wait to get my own apartment. I imagined I'd live in Philadelphia and have hanging plants and a phonograph and cats. I ended up running away to RI and I adopted a Zen pound dog. No hanging plants. I went to art school and studied painting and French and photography. Now I am a writer and a musician with a fabulous dog. I still swim and bake bread. Life is funny.
