Romeo!

The red collar I selected looks great on him and fit perfectly. I had measured the neck of my neighbors dog who is the same size using my blue lanyard.

We brought him home last night at and walked him downtown. I got the feeling that he's not walked on a leash before. He sniffed a million new scents! "He's never been in a city before," my husband said. "This is like us walking around Manahattan." I added. "Sensory overload! He's going to need a nap." A few fire trucks drove by. Welcome to Woonsocket, Romeo!

He's a smart boy and he's already received compliments and greetings from neighbors.

When we got back home it was 7PM We fed him in his crate while we had dinner. Then I walked him for a quick poop and he had a real crate nap while our band arrived for our rehearsal. It turned out that my trombone player James adopted his Min-Pin Mozart from the same place, Dog Orphans in Douglas. "I was dogless until I went to Douglas," I said.

After everyone left I went down to get Romeo. I could tell he was still sleepy from his nap but happy to be in our home. I took him out again for a quick pee walk and then returned him to his crate to sleep. It was midnight!

Now at 4AM he is enjoying the monster Nylabone we were given by Paula for Christmas a few years ago. We have two other blue gummy ones that he likes too. I found a thick short black leash that someone had given us and left it on him while he was chewing his toys just in case the cat comes upstairs and he accidentally chewed the leash! In 2 seconds he nearly went through it. Now I am thinking that he's younger than 3. Maybe a year old. Dr. Belinsky will know by looking at his teeth. In 2 seconds he chewed a hole in our cloth covering the couch. He's a puppy and he needs supervision and time to adjust. That's cool.

Romeo loves his milk crate full of toys especially his tennis balls which we have a ton of. He knows the dog bed is his place. He is very smart. Boundaries and parameters are good and he is catching on fast. I was so excited last night I fell asleep at midnight and slept lightly. I will feed him in his crate so he associates good things with it. He seems to chill in place on his bed and he never barks.

He stuffs two tennis balls and Hannah at the shelter said he has stuffed three in his mouth at once and they got stuck! Be careful, she said. Right now Sammy cat is wary but Romeo always has a tennis ball in his mouth when he meets him.

Romeo loves his toys and hogs them. He can get into a play frenzy. He is very self entertaining.

I played fetch with him in the alley and one ball rolled under the gate. I got him another but he was distracted by the other ball being out of reach. He's fabulously OCD! I love him!

He's from Georgia so I call him the Georgia Peach Pit. He's a Labrador Pitbull, a Pitador!
