Smithsonian magazine's annual Museum Day Live!

R.I., Mass. museums offering free admission on Saturday
Nearly two dozen museums in Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts are taking part.

Nearly two dozen museums in Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts will offer free admission Saturday as part of Smithsonian magazine's annual Museum Day Live!

Participating Rhode Island institutions include the Audubon Environmental Education Center, 1401 Hope St., Bristol; Brick Market Museum & Shop, 127 Thames St., Newport; Slater Mill, 67 Roosevelt Ave., Pawtucket; John Brown House, 52 Power St., the Museum of Natural History and Planetarium at Roger Williams Park, 1000 Elmwood Ave., and the Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology at Brown University, 21 Prospect St., all in Providence; Babcock-Smith House, 124 Granite St., and the Westerly Armory, 41 Railroad Ave., both in Westerly; and the Museum of Work and Culture, 42 S. Main St., Woonsocket.

Nearby Massachusetts museums participating include Battleship Cove, 5 Water St., Fall River; and the New Bedford Art Museum, 608 Pleasant St.

Those interested in visiting any of the participating venues should go to smithsonianmag.com/museumday/museum-day-live-march-2016/tickets/ to register. Each ticket is good for admission for two guests and you can only download a ticket to one venue.
