This is why I could never live anywhere else.
This is why I could never live anywhere else. Tammy Ciavarini alerted me to the photo, and on my morning walk Jungie came running out of the post office to give me his copy. The librarians were thrilled, EA MARCOUX's Greg rolled down his truck window to mention it. Claudine stopped her car and Carol and all of the people I ran into on the street (that I know from walking by every day) were thrilled.
My love for Woonsocket is always increasing.
February and March are happy months due to the expanding daylight. I am blown away at my well behaved (shared) parking lot. It's like the library parking lot. (laugh) The kids from 606 East School are playing together and this is what really makes me happy. They deserve to have a happy urban childhood. I think urban life rocks! As a former suburban kid I know how great it is to live in the city versus the car dependent suburbs. When its working well the city is the best village for kids.
More good news: CITYSIDE vet clinic opening on Social Street. My friends Bart & Marissa Massucco own Countryside Vet Clinic in Wrentham and realized Woonsocket needs an AFFORDABLE veterinary clinic. I've been telling everyone. This will be great for the seniors in the high rises who are on fixed income and prefer to stay local.
And since the Gods are shining down on Woonsocket my other dream is for people to have dental care. So many of my neighbors are toothless and younger than me. AND...There's a reputable dental clinic on the corner of our street.
As a citizen who loves to be a pedestrian I would love to see Main Street continue to expand as the destination and revitalized heart of the city. A produce market for starters! We can do it!
I met with Rui Almeida our new city planner last Friday at my house and showed him my paintings and drawings and we had tea and I baked lemon Portuguese biscoitos and talked art and ideas. He was very gracious. We are so lucky to have another enthusiast.
If we all could all walk the area instead of drive, and talk or sing or dance and share homemade food we could solve the cities (and the worlds problems). I do believe this.
We love Woonsocket Police Dept. and I brag to all of the out of towners that we have the best.
I am sad that Armand Binette is retiring but glad he will stay in the city. He has been a great help to the City and the neighborhood.
The Neighborworks kitchen is almost done. My fantasy is to have a gratitude breakfast for WPD, the Library and all the Depts in City Hall and the beloved Highway dept. I'd gladly bake and cook. It's the best way I know how to express gratitude...besides writing letters.
